Wondering how much your car costs you per year or per month?
Try our calculator to get an estimate!
It accounts for the purchase cost through a consumer loan, or leasing through a rental contract.
It provides cost results over the duration of the loan, as well as over the vehicle's "lifetime." This simply breaks down the purchase price over the loan repayment period or the estimated lifespan of the car.
Other costs are divided into fixed and variable expenses, for both combustion and electric vehicles.
The simulator comes with default values that you can adjust.
We do not include the pollution caused by the vehicle, nor the impact of rare earth and raw material usage.
Finally, we provide a comparison with a bike + public transport / car rental solution.
Here is the comparison with one or more bikes for daily commuting.
Choose the bike that suits you: long-tail, cargo bike, classic or electric bike — with or without bike trailers.
Based on the vehicles’ lifetime, not just the purchase period.
Of course, the comparisons here are a bit biased. The bike calculator doesn't take distance traveled into account — while the car calculator does!
To get more comparable numbers, you can enter in the car calculator the distance you drive daily in the city — the kind of trips you might replace with a bike.
That’ll give you a solid estimate of how much you could save by switching for that part of your transportation.
We also don’t factor in the number of vehicles: here we compare one car with a certain number of bikes (two by default), but the average household in France owns 1.5 cars.
We're not even talking about the benefits of cycling — for your health, the planet, etc. (but yes, they’re very real!).
You might be thinking: “What about vacations? Weekend getaways?” Well sure, a bike won’t take you across France or Europe with all your luggage...
But still:
(And speaking from experience: it’s a relief not having to worry about car maintenance, parking spaces, and all the rest).
Take the train!
Go on a bike holiday! No traffic jams, greenways, camping, and plenty of time to enjoy the ride. (Okay, not the most impartial opinion — but honestly, it’s the best way to travel.)
Got kids or a lot of gear? (Which often go together...) Microforge offers bike trailers for exactly that!
